The last thing busy personal injury lawyers like is to get bogged down with costs recovery. Sue Bowler, at Coffin Mew and Clover, found that the answer was to outsource her team’s costs work to Ellis Grant.
Since 2002 we have contracted out all of our personal injury and clinical negligence costs recovery work to Ellis Grant. This covers cases from the low end of the fast track up to catastrophic injury.
The largest matter handled to date involved a bill of costs exceeding £200,000. Ellis Grant deal with all cases where costs need to be recovered from the Defendant (apart from cases involving predictable costs) and also LSC assessments.
The service provided covers bill preparation, all negotiations, issuing of Part 8 proceedings where necessary, drafting of replies to points of dispute and part 18 replies, and attendance at detailed assessment hearings.
We have developed a strong working relationship with Ellis Grant and appreciate both the work that they undertake and the advice that they provide. Having an arrangement like this frees up fee earners to deal with claims and leaves the specialists at Ellis Grant to deal with and advise upon costs recovery.
