Ellis Grant has become synonymous with the detailed assessment of costs in high value and complex cases, both for receiving parties and paying parties, but that is not all of our work.
Frequently we are instructed to advise on the terms of retainers (including CFAs and CCFAs). We compile budgets and estimates, assist with costs-capping applications, prepare statements of costs for summary assessment and skeleton bills and statements in support of security for costs applications. In addition we are often asked to advise on the scope and wording of costs orders and preparing costs submissions.
We have developed particular expertise in costs issues arising from defamation and confidence cases from early offer of amends settlements through to contested trials and appeals.
Nor is all our personal injury work in the high value arena. We offer full service PI costs administration which helps high volume PI departments largely to outsource costs recovery and get on with what they do best — winning cases.
